it’s a huge huge huge fucking privilege to be vegan and i don’t mean solely monetarily i mean people that live in food deserts, people who work multiple jobs and don’t have access / time to prepare meals ahead of time or time to come home and cook, people with severe allergies or medical conditions that limit their food options, people whose food is more than just a meal but is their culture + their heritage, people who don’t have time or access to nutrition information. i think instead of turning veganism into another imperialist self serving endeavor we all need to focus on spreading information + resources + work towards building cooperative farms and food banks and make feeding our bodies wholly a possibility for everyone. we all know that factory farming and capitalism are evil, we already know that it is destroying our environment but your individual choices mean shit when all you’re contributing is alleviating your own guilt and guilting those without the same privileges you are awarded, we need to build community and understanding with one another we have to get our hands in the dirt and create
